Public Education Offered by Burnham Wood Charter School District

El Paso Education Initiative, Inc., a non-profit organization aimed at providing enhanced educational opportunities for the community in El Paso, Texas, is the founder of several high-performing schools. It is divided into two separate charters, namely, the Burnham Wood Charter School District, and Vista del Futuro Charter School (VDFSC). Burnham Wood Charter School District opened two schools, which include the Da Vinci School for Science and the Arts and the Howard Burnham Elementary School.

The organization receives funding from private foundations, corporations, and other benefactors. Apart from that, the schools receive financial grants and awards on a yearly basis from the State and Federal government. The charter schools of El Paso Education Initiative are also awardees of administrative and academic awards for their excellent student performance and school organization. The Da Vinci School for Science and the Arts is one of the most notable Distinguished Texas STEM Academies in West Texas. Admission to the charter schools is done through open enrollment, as provided by the Texas Education Code, chapter 12, subchapter D, section 12.101 (b). Anyone living in El Paso or Hudspeth areas or districts are eligible for registration in the school district. There is no tuition to attend these public, charter schools.
